Bill of Lading

A legal document between the carrier and shipper with the terms and description of the goods being shipped by the carrier.

Here’s an example:

This Bill of Lading is issued by ABC Manufacturing Co., 123 Industrial Park Drive, Buffalo, NY 14202, as the shipper. The goods are being shipped to XYZ Distribution LLC, 987 Commerce Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30301, as the consignee. The carrier is Fast Freight Trucking, Inc.

The shipment consists of 150 pieces of steel machine parts (Models X200 and X350) with a total weight of 3,000 lbs, packaged on pallets. The freight terms are prepaid, and the shipment must be handled with care and not stacked.

This Bill of Lading, numbered BOL-2025-000145, is dated September 4, 2025. It requires signatures from the shipper, carrier, and consignee to confirm the transfer and receipt of goods.
